A fun little fluorite with incredibly deep purple colour that appears pitch black when viewed as is. But, when backlit, the edges of this Victory Mine fluorite glows vibrantly with vivid purple and bright magenta hues! Curiously, the centre of this specimen remains dark and impenetrable even by the brightest of light.

A well-formed, complete fluorite specimen with little to no damage (remarkable condition for this 20-years old find!).

Victory Mine, Illinois, USA

A little-known mine in the world-famous Cave-in-Rock mining area, Illinois, the Victory Mine was worked as early as the 1920s. Finds from this locality are often well-formed cubic fluorite in deep purple or yellow, sometimes accompanied by calcite, baryte, quartz, sphalerite and chalcopyrite. With the mine closed for decades, finds from this mine are few and far in between.
