A top specimen from a well-known locality— this Huanggang Fluorite is completely colourless, with a sharp octahedral crystal perched elegantly atop smaller crystals that are equally as clean. Pristine and complete all-around, many from these finds are dull in lustre or frosted somewhat, but not this one! Absolutely gemmy and glassy, with an unmatched aesthetic.

Of the fluorite variants produced by the famous Inner Mongolia’s Huanggang Mine, the colourless octahedral ones reign supreme and are regarded highly— alongside the very few truly colourless fluorites like Russia’s Dalnegorsk.

As with most Cambokeels Mine fluorite, this specimen features translucent colourless to white twinned crystals, and interestingly, with greyish-black chalcopyrite crystals forming the zonings within. There are also several clear cubic crystals growing alongside the main interpenetrating twin, providing a good contrast and aesthetic.

This Emilio specimen is the epitome of when chaos co-exists with order. On its front face, numerous colourless cubic fluorite crystals grow without restraint on a bed of sparkly, silvery quartz. On its side, the neat, smooth surface characteristic of an Emilio specimen emerges, complete with the coveted blue and purple zonings and chalcopyrite inclusions classic to this locality. Truly the best of both worlds.

One of those few fluorite specimens from the Emilio Mine with hydrocarbon inclusions (the round, black “ink droplets”)- a mineral combo beloved by fluorite collectors, thanks to the distinctive “black & white” aesthetic between the glassy, colourless fluorite and black bitumen.
