Like a jagged shard of ice, forever frozen in time. This flawless, colourless Elmwood ‘ice cream cone’ is a remarkable 7.5cm tall beauty with pronounced dissolution features, giving the crystals an unusually sculptural appearance. The fluorite is exceptionally glassy and gemmy, with excellent transparency that allows light to travel deep into the crystals and accentuate the intricate dissolution textures.

The Elmwood Mine is one of the world’s most celebrated localities for fluorite, renowned for its exceptionally lustrous cubic crystals, rich purple and blue coloration, and association with calcite and galena. Crystals may display delicate transitions between colourless, pale blue, violet and deep purple, sometimes producing striking phantom-like internal zoning. The combination of highly developed crystal faces, transparency makes Elmwood specimens especially distinctive to collectors.

A classic example from the Emilio Mine, this colourless specimen is completely glassy, with blue zonings and chalcopyrite inclusions throughout. The translucent appearance and glassy lustre is further enhanced by its beautiful etchings and “digital growths”-like formation.

This Emilio specimen is the epitome of when chaos co-exists with order. On its front face, numerous colourless cubic fluorite crystals grow without restraint on a bed of sparkly, silvery quartz. On its side, the neat, smooth surface characteristic of an Emilio specimen emerges, complete with the coveted blue and purple zonings and chalcopyrite inclusions classic to this locality. Truly the best of both worlds.

A top specimen from a well-known locality— this Huanggang Fluorite is completely colourless, with a sharp octahedral crystal perched elegantly atop smaller crystals that are equally as clean. Pristine and complete all-around, many from these finds are dull in lustre or frosted somewhat, but not this one! Absolutely gemmy and glassy, with an unmatched aesthetic.

An interesting, multi-layered specimen with intricate stepped fluorite growths resembling the sharp highs and lows of a cityscape. The colourless crystals are exceptionally water-clear, with phantoms of gentle greens and yellows throughout.
