Like a jagged shard of ice, forever frozen in time. This flawless, colourless Elmwood ‘ice cream cone’ is a remarkable 7.5cm tall beauty with pronounced dissolution features, giving the crystals an unusually sculptural appearance. The fluorite is exceptionally glassy and gemmy, with excellent transparency that allows light to travel deep into the crystals and accentuate the intricate dissolution textures.

The Elmwood Mine is one of the world’s most celebrated localities for fluorite, renowned for its exceptionally lustrous cubic crystals, rich purple and blue coloration, and association with calcite and galena. Crystals may display delicate transitions between colourless, pale blue, violet and deep purple, sometimes producing striking phantom-like internal zoning. The combination of highly developed crystal faces, transparency makes Elmwood specimens especially distinctive to collectors.

A colourless Pratclaux fluorite with white phantoms and beautiful surface etchings.
Locality: Pratclaux, Haute-Loire, France 🇫🇷

A gorgeous specimen from the Llamas Quarry, with the biggest crystal being a water-clear, tabular fluorite with a slightly bluish-violet tinge. There are also several other smaller crystals, some cubic, but with the same exceptional clarity, growing aesthetically alongside the focal one.

The water-clear clarity of the best Emilio fluorites can be hard to capture on camera, simply because the crystals are so transparent, one can see through it to see the matrix underneath or other crystals that grew alongside.
The highlight of this specimen is undoubtedly the completely perfect crystal that sits front and centre. The beautifully formed, bevelled-edged, jewel-like fluorite crystal is completely damage-free, smooth, gemmy and clear on all sides, so clear that you can see the micro chalcopyrite crystals within.

A top specimen from a well-known locality— this Huanggang Fluorite is completely colourless, with a sharp octahedral crystal perched elegantly atop smaller crystals that are equally as clean. Pristine and complete all-around, many from these finds are dull in lustre or frosted somewhat, but not this one! Absolutely gemmy and glassy, with an unmatched aesthetic.
