To date, we’ve visited quite a few mineral shows across Japan— thrice in Tokyo, twice in Osaka, once in Kyoto and once in Nagoya.
If you’re a collector who likes miniature or thumbnail mineral specimens especially, you’ll love what’s offered by Japanese mineral dealers. Most of the available specimens are on the smaller side, but high on aesthetic. There are several established mineral dealers who offer fine mineral specimens, and in some shows (such as Ikebukuro’s December mineral show), there are also international dealers from US, France, Spain and more. Though we’ve seen quite a few good mineral specimens, unfortunately we could not take any pictures to share here because almost all of the Japanese mineral dealers strictly do not allow photographs or videos of their specimens, especially to post them online. If you’re visiting Japan, it’s definitely worth checking out their mineral shows— they always have a few local shows every month, so it’s not impossible to fit one in your itinerary!
